Mining Shared Value will be taking part in the Future of Mining Americas conference which will address the technological advances in mining, as well as their impacts on the social landscape around the sector.
We will be drawing from the 2016 Mining a Mirage study we jointly produced with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI). The study shows that automation in mining will have significant impacts on the level of local hiring and procurement in the countries that host mining activity, and that both industry and governments need to take proactive steps to mitigate these negative impacts.
