Mining Shared Value will be presenting its Guidance for Disclosure on Human Rights Due Diligence in Mining Sector Procurement in the Sustainability Program on Sunday, March 2 at 11 am.

Jeff and Tatiana will present on how exploration and mining companies can comply with Canada’s new “Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act” during the procurement of goods and services, in a way that actually creates value, rather than act as a burden.

The 20th IGF Annual General Meeting is set for November 18-20 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, hosted by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD). This year’s theme is “Redefining Mining: Balancing the Need for Minerals with Protecting People and the Planet.”

This year’s conference will gather stakeholders from across the public and private sectors, academia, civil society organisations, and Indigenous representatives to discuss well-being in mining regions, focusing on two pillars:

The Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) will convene in-person for its 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 7–10, 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland and hosted by UNCTAD. Sessions will also be live streamed for virtual attendees.

Our Managing Director will be presenting virtually as part of the 3rd ECOWAS Mining & Petroleum Forum and Exhibition, being held in Niamey, Niger.

Jeff will be speaking at the Mali Mining and Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (JMP 2021) which takes place from November 16th to November 18th, 2021. He will be speaking on the importance of local procurement and the role it can play in the economic development of Mali. There is a slight chance the event will be in person but otherwise the presentation will be carried out virtually.

Jeff will be speaking at the RE-SOURCING Virtual Conference 2021 which takes place from November 8th to November 10th, 2021. He will be participating as a panelist in the “Session on Responsible Sourcing for a Green Transition.” The panel will be tackling how a responsible supply chain can be implemented in the green transition by bringing together EU and international perspectives.

Our Managing Director Jeff Geipel will speak on the role of local procurement in responsible mining, and the potential for it to create economic benefits in Morocco.

Along with representatives of SRK Consulting and Anglo American, our Managing Director Jeff Geipel will speak as part of the session, "Developing and Measuring Sustainable and Resilient Mining Communities,” focusing on the need to measure local procurement impacts.
